Puggy -
September 2005
Puggy was an older, diabetic kitty who needed insulin
shots twice a day to keep him in good health. For months
and months, he lived with a foster mom who took care
of him diligently, but what Puggy really needed was
a permanent home.
Luckily for Puggy, an older couple
saw him on the NCHS website. They decided that Puggy
was the cat for them. To reward Puggy's adoptive parents,
the Volunteer Fund paid Puggy's adoption fee and offered
to reimburse two months of diabetic supplies. Puggy
is happy, healthy, and has found his forever home!
Baby
Red - February 2005
Chunky (now "Baby Red") needed our help. At the shelter,
Baby Red had been on Rimadyl for limping and pain in
his hind
legs. When Diva adopted Baby Red, she did not observe
any limping and was told he had been taken off Rimadyl.
After a week, she noticed he had started limping and
seemed in pain.
Baby Red was then
diagnosed with Bilateral Medial Patella Luxation (the
same
thing Paris has only a less severe case). Diva had
already
spent about $600 on X-Rays. She was told that Baby
Red should have surgery on his worst leg first, to
the tune of
about $2,500. After about 4-6 weeks, they'd decide
whether his other hind leg should be operated on.
Diva had already fallen in love with him and was committed
to keeping him. However, she did not have the money
to pay for the expensive surgery.
The Volunteer Fund stepped in to give Diva $1,000
and the Angel
Fund matched
the Volunteer Fund.
