We adopted Sammy (originally Tony)
on March 24, 2007. In seven short weeks, he has truly
become one of the family. His age was estimated at just
over a year old, however as he has bonded with our family,
he has become a playful puppy once again.
Sammy enjoys waking up our seven year old son with gentle kisses every morning. He seems to understand the command of "time to wake up" and he'll go to our son's room and lick his ear until he wakes up. Our son just adores his new dog, and clearly Sammy loves him.
Sammy's personality continues to emerge more each day. My husband and I are so thankful we adopted him from the Humane Society. We still can't imagine any reason of how or why he was there, but today we don't care, and it really doesn't matter - he is part of our family, and we feel very lucky to have found such a great addition.

We love hearing your happy endings 'tails.'

Happily Settled in her Forever Home
We first saw "Roxy" on April 1st a week
after we had our 16 1/2 year old Lhasa Apso put to sleep.
We had agreed to get our son a dog of his own when he
turned 10. We looked at all the animals, of course "just
looking." The next thing I know he is sitting on
the floor next to the cage of a female Rott mix and they
are having a love affair through the bars. I told my
son to call his Dad on my cell (a better chance of getting
the dog home than if I called!!)
About two years ago I heard through a chain of friends
that a woman had a 10 year old Maine
coon whom she’d raised since she was a kitten and had
to get rid of. She said she’d looked
for someone to adopt the cat, but had no takers. She
had decided to euthanize her. I was so heartbroken when
I heard, that I agreed to take the cat before ever meeting
her.
I went to adopt a dog, but a 3 year old orange cat
named "Bud" caught my eye. I sat with him in
the cat section for quite sometime and absolutely fell
in love. Once at his new home, he seemed to be quite
comfortable. I changed his name to Shamrock, in honor
of my summer in Ireland.
